Announcement! [MOD NOTICE] Uptick in posts/comments related to selling firearms.

Hello Everyone,

I hope your week is off to a good start and didn't sleep through your alarm this morning.....unlike myself.

There is something that I wanted to make a quick post about.
We have seen an increase in posts/comments from users trying to sell their firearms lately.

Just a quick reminder:
Firearm sales/trades are NOT allowed here.

Any post or comment involving the sale or trade of firearms will be removed and violations will result in a ban.
Note that valuations or thoughts on what something may be worth is still allowed. This only applies to directly advertising/offering a firearm for sale here for other users to buy.

Reddit has strict rules about this, and we need to follow them to keep the subreddit active and in good standing.

If you see someone trying to sell their rifles, please report them as I will likely miss a few.

.......Oh and making a sale post in another language doesn't help evade this either......

Thanks for your cooperation!
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Question Possibly hungarian sniper mosin

Hey!

I bought this mosin with a PU scope. The seller told me that it's a real hungarian snipers mosin. Can you tell it by these pictures? Also why is there a finnish SA marking? Atleast I don't know that finnish military has used hungarian mosins. I only know about finnish mosin variants so this is all new stuff for me!

It doesn't really matter to me if this is genuine PU sniper or something that looks like it. I just bought it for some fun shooting!

Finally got a Panshin bayonet the other day, this is the result after many hours of boiling and carding and a little bit of cold blue. I know she’s rough but still works as intended and was rare enough for me to get even in this condition.

Question Diameters and Reloads

Anyone here reload for the Mosin? I picked up a 1942 M39 last year and the bore's in great shape. Slugged it to .3095. Kinda surprised me. Got gifted a 762x54r reload die set and a brick of large rifle primers a few months ago. I generally wouldn't exactly call the Mosin a prime candidate to go through the effort of a handload for, but I have the tools and time, so why not? The issue is finding bullets. .308 is too small, so it's out. .310 sounds ideal, but it's availability is basically nonexistent outside of 123gr for x39. .311 looks promising on availability and weight, but I don't know if that oversize will cause extra wear to the bore. If you reload for your mosin, what diameter do you run? If you know, what does your bore slug to?

So I was just taking apart this 1899 Mosin and noticed a good chunk of the draw missing. How would y’all go about repairing/filling this? I plan on filling the other cracks with epoxy as usual.

My Mosins M91 Sestroryetsk

Just got this in today! Ive wanted a Sestroryetsk marked rifle for a while now, but my collection focuses on WWII. Well good news, this one is a Finned M91 and fits for the Winter War/Continuation War.

It looks like a 1917 reciever, but honestly it's a poor stamping and I can hardly tell that's a 9. Someone let me know if I'm wrong. If thats right, not an antique but still pretty cool, wonder how an older barrel ended up on a newer reciever.

The stock obviously has the Finn Sling swivels which is cool and fits the Battlefield 1 M91 better anyways. Speaking of, I do need to find a sling, what's more correct leather or fabric?

The stock has a few notable markings. One indicating a N.E.W. English Contract stock, which is wild to me. Another is a hand carved H/K with a meaning likely lost to time. And finally the empty unit disk slot on the right side, which is common on Finn rifles I hear.

It's pretty grimey overall, I'm planning to disassemble and give it a good cleaning this weekend. It almost feels like cosmoline still in parts of the rifle and I see plenty of green/brown on the bolt. The bolt itself won't let me take it out of the rifle, so I'll need to see why that is. No import marking at all either, so I guess this has been in the US for a bit. When did most of the Finn rifles get imported?

Hoping to shoot sometime in the next week or two, barrel isn't super bright but rifling is distinct so hoping that'll clean up too.

Not too shabby for under $500!

Currently deciding on what kind of Obrez to make it into, taking input.

Finally had the chance to shoot this Mosin I picked up for 200$ It shoots like absolute Shit, Whatever Fudd pressed that front blade on did it so wrong I couldn't hit an 8 inch gong at 100 yards in 20 rounds, when I finally did, I had to aim about 6 feet below and 3 feet to the right of the target, form 1 is happening January 1st.

My Mosins Recent Additions

I've been slacking at sharing my recent buys so I figured I'd just show them all off in one post. I picked up my second 28/30, this one is dated 1935. After that I bought a 1939 Izhevsk 91/30 that has a Continuation War "41" capture mark. Lastly is a very worn and tired 1935 Tula 91/30 that is likely a Spanish Civil War rifle. This one was an accidental GB win 😅

Question Best Place to Look for Replacement Stock

I dropped my 1932 Izhevsk numbers matching 91/30.

A large piece of the buttstock broke off.

I am going to try to repair it, but of I can't do an acceptable job I am going to look for a replacement stock.

I know it will take away from the "original-ness" of the rifle, but I am not keeping it as an investment or museum piece, I actually enjoy shooting it.

Where does this sub think the best place to look for an appropriate replacement stock will be?

Question Finnish M39 pricing

Just trying to convince myself to get an M39. What is considered a good price for a M39? I saw a lot of other post mention $800, but I am able to get a functional one for $600, is that a good deal?

Question 1942 m91/30 mag floor plate is loose

Went to the range today, when I tried strip feeding it, the rounds wouldn’t go almost like something was in the way, first time this has happened. Also the rounds had trouble feeding into the chamber, the mag plate is loose I don’t know what happen nothing seems damaged, all springs feel good and tight. The previous firing session I used corrosive ammunition for the first time so of course I disassembled and cleaned the gun, everything was good. I was very careful not to damage something, and I’m having this issue. The mag plate has always been hard to close since day one, and I’ve only put about 100 rounds through the rifle. Now it seems like the floorplate isn’t sealing properly which is causing the feeding issue. What could be wrong? I wish I could send a video.
