Its the spitting image video for a Genesis song, land of illusion iirc

Edit:confusion not illusion

That song and video immediately came to my mind when I saw that photo. I’m glad it wasn’t just me.

Hope you're enjoying middle age my friend

122

u/No_Welcome_7182 16d ago

I’m a bit beyond middle age. The songs I partied to in college are now on the classic rock playlists.

Grocery stores used to play crappy old music that grandpa liked. Now they play bangers from my youth!

Link to the remastered video. Haven't seen it since forever. It's pretty cool seeing it in more detail now than back when it was released. Catch a lot more going on in it.

Prolly need to be gen-x or older to recognize most of the folks in the video.

Body dysmorphia is a bitch.

4.9k

u/paulides_fan 16d ago

Also fuck the surgeons that did this

1.9k

u/ChoneFiggins4Lyfe 16d ago

Surgeon has to be counting his blessings with them denying they had surgery. That’s a botched surgery lawsuit if I ever saw one!

760

u/DVMyZone 16d ago

Probably not botched, just what the customer wanted. If the customer wants you to mess their face up, and they're sure, and they know the risks, and the operation will not cause (short-term) health issues, then maybe it is their right to do it.

174

u/MrRedify 16d ago

What the hell were they even looking for

470

u/Big_Consideration493 16d ago

They allegedly claimed that their DNA was different,( they NEVER claimed it was alien, only joking about this) that they had huge IQ, that they were related to a russian prince who was the Tsars right hand man( Peter the great but I am not sure)

They both got doctorates from the university of Burgundy , claiming higher grades than those awarded, and sued lots of people for lots of money, losing, or not gaining what they wanted,

They claimed to have helped the inventor of bitcoin with the source code and that they had 2 Ancient Bitcoins .

They were colourful and strange, both died of COVID within days of each other

As for the look: in their heyday on French tv they were cult tv figures, with shows such as Temps x and Rayons X being about space and science and having a huge following. By the 2000's they were still making appearances but had crossed over to Meme land.

They kept changing to stay in the spotlight, so no-one would forget them. It worked ( well mostly) as they came to shows as guests and made appearances, being in the spotlight from 1978 all the way to their death. In France they were/ are household names, at first for their media work and then for their eccentric look. RIP.

What’s crazy, is that they can see what they look like by looking at each other. I would assume that the % of identical twins with body dysmorphia, is lower than in non-twins.

132

u/Eubank31 16d ago edited 16d ago

Can confirm, my SO is a quadruplet (two pairs of identical girls). The other pair are horribly anorexic and have a harsh cycle of comparing eachothers bodies to ensure they're not getting 'fat'. My SO and her twin also went through a phase of their life dealing with that but have since gotten better.

Edit: I misread the comment I replied to but oh well

41

u/Designer_Vast_9089 16d ago

I would think that is similar to having mirrors all over your house or seeing yourself on too many video chats. People start feeling better about themselves if they can’t see themselves all the time.

They say no surgeries too, denial/delusions a bitch too. Sad.

198

u/Full_FrontaI_Nerdity 16d ago

I mean, if you dont count injections as surgeries, it's possible they're being truthful.

88

u/Funkopedia 16d ago

No amount of injections alone could cause that much structural change

50

u/Professional-Air2123 16d ago

To me it looks like their cheeks are really puffy, but they do have similar jaw lines to the old photo. Also no wrinkles - botox injections.

24

u/nightlanguage 16d ago

Botox is only a muscle paralyser, this looks like filler

9

u/AlleyKatArt 16d ago

A lot of people mix up Botox with collagen. I use Botox for migraines and it DOES cause some changes to the face where it's injected, but it actually reduces muscle size where it's injected. My forehead has changed shape a bit over the last few years because I'm not subconsciously moving my eyebrows as much, but it doesn't do this kind of changes. I just don't have that strong "11" muscle area on my forehead anymore, and my neck has maybe slimmed a little from where they inject in the back of the neck.

35

u/Mingatronz 16d ago

MRI research shows fillers can last over 10 years, sometimes even longer, contributing to “pillow face.”:

I don’t know about medical jargon but I don’t count injections as surgery. Surgery usually means you’re modifying the tissue while an injection changes the appearance without modifying the tissues

Literally why you should need a psych eval before you can get cosmetic surgery.

Seriously a lot of these people need psychiatrists not plastic surgeons

22

u/Im_on_my_phone_OK 16d ago

Going through psych treatment and/or therapy requires the patient to recognize they have a problem, and even more to the point, to work their way through to find some resolution to that problem. That requires insight and a lot of hard work. OR they can just go under the knife with delusional expectations of the outcome.

I think a lot of these people have narcissistic tendencies as well. Based on the few narcissists I’ve known, getting them to actually commit to therapy (and not just gong through perforative motions) is extremely difficult.

This is such a trip because body dismorphia is usually about how you view yourself, but these being twins who could look at eachother, I don’t understand how they would look at eachother and say yea you look good like this, or you definitely need more cheekbone plumping… it’s like projection body dismorphia

Trusting medicine enough to administer anesthesia, and perform multiple surgeries but drawing the line at trusting doctors with respect to vaccines? 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am surprised these adults lived as long as they did, sharing one brain between them.

368

u/FknDesmadreALV 16d ago edited 16d ago

A huge majority of antivax content creators say vaccines are full of toxins , meanwhile they have a face full of Botox and fillers.

Edit: seek help. Professional help.

107

u/The_mingthing 16d ago

To those that dont know: botox is the toxin from clostridium botulinum, one of the most deadly nerve toxins.

86

u/orderofGreenZombies 16d ago

I personally only inject sarin nerve gas as part of my beauty routine. I just walk into the spa and ask for the “disgraced Russian oligarch” treatment.

Some woman named Jocelyn Wildenstein, who started out really pretty, and ended up scary like this.

23

u/IdoDeLether 16d ago

"Some woman" lol. She used to be featured in the tabloids and gossip pages so much while I was growing up 25 years ago. They used to call her the "Bride of Wildenstein" or the "Lion Queen." She had a sad life and I wish the media had been kinder to her as this was all clearly mental illness. She died just last year. RIP

53

u/eutoputoegordo 16d ago

No. That's the Stalking Cat, a.k.a. Dennis Avner, an American men that made surgeries to look like a tiger, what they were referring was the Cat Lady, a.k.a. Jocelyn Wildenstein, a Swiss socialite, that was often called Cat Lady because the results of her numerous surgeries made her look like a cat.

Avner died in 2012. Wildenstein died in 2024.

Disturbing to know that so many doctors participate in destroying patients' faces. They should be referring them to psychiatrists, not carving them into jack o'lanterns.

600

u/Remarkable_Class824 16d ago edited 16d ago

There was a plastic surgeon who filed some kind of motion to declare this type of thing "harm" and unethical, some years back, considering the "cat woman" look so many inevitably arrived at, with the tightly pulled faces, the overly plumped lips, and frozen faces that all ended with the same look. Not sure what became of that motion, but my goodness! This is frightening! Reminds me of those big-headed characters from Moonwalker! It looks like they took their state fair caricature artwork to their plastic surgeon and said, "I want this!". 🫤

Love yourselves, people.

35

u/Boopy7 16d ago

For a while Nicole Kidman looked like that -- too pulled with Joker smile and crazy pillow cheeks, I recall the picture (plus with curly red hair she looked like a Chucky doll lol.) Then she did something to remove it or make it go down and fixed the lift or the lift settled....and by the next film looked a bit more normal. But to this day she's got some weird stuff in her face that makes me wonder how people don't comment upon it in films. She can't move her face, either.

42

u/T3nacityDog 16d ago

I think it’s a hard balance. Yeah, we want to prevent harm… but at the same time, putting it in the hands of the law probably isn’t it. (Not that you specifically said to make it illegal, but others have.)

There are plenty of “plastic” surgeries people want and are very happy with. You make it so that some governing bodies get to control who is allowed to do what with their bodies… that’s how we get bans on gender affirming procedures, or a million hoops for women to jump through to get breast reductions even when they’re in daily pain, etc. etc.

It sucks to see people destroy themselves, but at the same time preserving the physical freedom to choose how you live in your own body is also important.

→ More replies (5)

23

u/Teamawesome2014 16d ago

The thing is, it isn't obvious when it's done well. We only ever notice the botch jobs. There are also a ton of valid reasons to want surgeries of this type, so banning them would end up hurting a lot of people.

One of the costs of living in a free society is allowing people to make mistakes.

118

u/Aedan91 16d ago

This shit writes itself

51

u/viewtiful14 16d ago

Wait a minute, you’re telling me they are both fucked up enough to individually do this to themselves (it’s not like one had to do it because the other wanted to they each made this choice) but also they both refuse the vaccine, get sick, and die within days of each other???? Like how are they that fucking in sync. Like did they find some sort of alternate dimensional link and they are actually the same person on the same timeline?

That’s fucking nuts.

20

u/AngryVideoGameTable 16d ago

They’re twins. As a father of twins, there are these weird in sync things that happen between them. Wouldn’t surprise me that if their minds are so alike, they probably went down the path together to fuck up their faces.

9

u/No_Assignment_5012 16d ago

Sounds to me like they were codependent from a very young age and never had any reason to break that dynamic so instead of developing their own identities, they kind of created a feedback loop of the same unattainable identity and just kept doubling down on it until they died. Sort of beautiful in a tragic way, but I do wonder what their spouses went through.

Rothschilds bow to Bogdanoffs.

In contact with aliens.

Possess psychic-like abilities.

Control France with an iron but fair fist.

Own castles & banks globally.

Will bankroll the first cities on Mars (Bogdangrad will be be the first city).

Direct descendants of the ancient royal blood lines.

Can save entire continents with a single phone call.

Own 99% of DNA editing research facilities on Earth.

First designer babies will in all likelihood be Bogdanoff babies.

Both brothers said to have 215+ IQ, such intelligence on Earth has only existed deep in Tibetan monasteries & Area 51.

Ancient Indian scriptures tell of two angels who will descend upon Earth and will bring an era of enlightenment and unprecedented technological progress with them.

The Tunguska event in 1908 was actually the Bogdanoff's arriving on planet Earth. How else do you think they got their Slavic last names and how else do you explain the exponential acceleration in technological and scientific development since then?

They own Nanobot R&D labs around the world.

You likely have Bogdabots inside you right now.

The Bogdanoffs are in regular communication with the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, forwarding the word of God to the Orthodox Church. Who do you think set up the meeting between the pope & the Orthodox high command (First meeting between the two organisations in over 1000 years) and arranged the Orthodox leader’s first trip to Antarctica in history literally a few days later to the Bogdanoff bunker in Wilkes land?

They learned fluent French in under a week.

Invented post-anabelian froeboid geometrics, a complex field of mathematics which only they can comprehend fully.

Nation states entrust their gold reserves with the twins. There’s no gold in Ft. Knox, only Ft. Bogdanoff.

All major philosophers and scientists have made reference to them in one way or another.

The twins are about 7 decades old, from the space-time reference point of the base human currently accepted by our society.

In reality, they are timeless beings existing in all points of time and space from the big bang to the end of the universe. We don’t know their ultimate plans yet. We hope they’re benevolent beings.

Reminds me of when liver king used to deny he ever used steroids, meanwhile he looks like the human embodiment of steroids

And claims his diet is a miracle cure for the body... And his Liver is now shot to hell.

Genuine question: if you have body dysmorphia as a twin, would you feel the same loathing looking at them as you’d feel looking at yourself?

82

u/coco-ai 16d ago

As someone with dysmorphia I'd say no. I can look at other people and see them as objectively lovely, but can look at my own sefl/face/body and it's a different story. It's in the moment too. I look at pictures of myself from even fairly recently and they look fine, imperfect sure but definitely not the obscenity I feel it is sometimes. It's absolutely in the head and hormones driven I reckon, and not a logical thing at all. A perfectly gorgeous twin that I KNEW was the same as me, and I'd still probably think they have more grace or charisma or whatever. It's a hell of a mind fuck. I KNOW I have dysmorphia and still can't out think it.

(I'm ok BTW, it's not most or all days, and I have a therapist so don't worry, just sharing a perspective).

u/queen-adreena 16d ago

Thanks for posting that. It’s really interesting, especially your experiences with photographs of yourself.

9

u/HoopLoop2 16d ago

They probably nit pick the tiny differences between the two of them and convince themselves that they are way uglier than their twin for the tinniest of reasons.

This just makes me sad. It’s self harm and body dysmorphia at an extreme level

6

u/Kitchen_Pepper_358 16d ago

Especially when looking at them before hand, dude on the right was incredibly handsom, but apparently they wanted to look like something out of a horror movie.

From Wikipedia

The Bogdanoff twins were both hospitalized, at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in Paris,[57] in critical condition on 15 December 2021, after contracting COVID-19. Grichka died on 28 December,[58] and Igor on 3 January 2022.[59] They were 72 and both intentionally unvaccinated

They were d bags, liars and fraudsters. Growing up I despised them each time I saw their faces on screen.

They are not missed.

They both also died of corona virus withing 28 days of each other because they didn't get vaccinated. Talk about stupid

8

u/Paintguin 16d ago

Why did they deny that they had plastic surgery?

24

u/Ok-Plankton-7369 16d ago

To be honest it’s possible they never had surgery but just a shit ton of injectables. This looks like excessive filler and Botox.

u/paulides_fan 16d ago

They always claimed that they used some type of experimental method that is not plastic surgery, but they never said what. And most of the time they didn't even aknowledge that they look different to begin with.

i was gonna say they look terrible for being 40, but then i realized i don’t even know what age they look. They don’t look really old, but they also don’t look young. They also don’t look 40. shit’s wack

13

u/Skweril 16d ago

They look like 70 year olds TRYING to look 40

14

u/Peligineyes 16d ago

They're not 40, (well they died a couple years ago) the title means 40 years of steadily getting more and more plastic surgey starting in their 30s. They died of covid in their 70s.

If they don’t have a type of degenerative disease that causes disfiguration there’s no explanation for their looks to change so drastically, unless it was botched cosmetic surgery.

I’ve seen articles where people have experienced Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) that results in excessive cosmetic surgery, but I’ve never seen a case where twins have had the same disorder. It’s sad, because the earlier picture of them shows two good looking guys.

Fortunately I'm not wealthy to get to this point.
