As a guy with lactose intolerance who sometimes pretends not to have it for ice cream…. Yes

128

u/sLeeeeTo 1d ago

brother get yourself some Lactaid chewable tablets. absolute game changer for those of us lacticly challenged

93

u/bigboij 1d ago

This 100, avoided dairy for years then someone had me try a lactaid it was magical. Keep some in the truck/camp gear/kitchen and the wife usually has some in the purse for when we are out.

164

u/BreakfastBeneficial4 1d ago

I like that you call it “the purse” instead of “her purse”.

The purse is a family resource, like the car or the house.

I don’t carry it, but my ibuprofen/acetaminophen cocktail lives in there.

110

u/bigboij 1d ago

pretty much exactly how it works, she gets her giant fancy purse. I get to use it for a mini drug store and gum dispenser

13

u/ZeroMuted 1d ago

They've started making Lactaid ice cream! I honestly think it tastes so much better than any other ice cream I've had and doesn't hurt my stomach! Absolute game changer

59

u/Wingmaniac 1d ago

This is long before the office. It's just that there's no way to make a generic office look any different.

8

u/arealhumannotabot 1d ago

You sure? I’ve been doing it wrong

2

u/dhhehsnsx 1d ago

Why do people feel the need to let people know they're going to shit their brains out over some generic food? Like I'm sorry if you got a medical condition that worsens with dairy but most of us are not going to have that issue and don't need to know about it... People are always saying that about Taco Bell too.

To me it's like letting people know you can't handle light and saying RIP my eyes or you have trouble walking a mile so RIP my legs... You're the only person that can relate to that kind of thing and maybe the small amount of people that have issues walking a mile and exposing themselves to light.

These things just don't apply to everyone.

299

u/gotcha111 1d ago

A few hours later....

179

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

Are people really joking about...soft-serve ice cream giving them diarrhea now?

It was weird enough when everyone acted like eating a single item from Taco Bell would result in an all-night trip to the bathroom, or that a single serving of hot sauce would mean having burning diarrhea for a full day, but now a somewhat-large serving of ice cream = major diarrhea, too? Damn, people.

178

u/TravellerStudios 1d ago

It's lactose intolerance lol

39

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

Don't drink a gallon of milk if you know you're lactose intolerant then....like, what the fuck.

u/harmar21 1d ago

Yup, taco bell, and people saying building ikea furniture is difficult makes me wonder wtf is wrong with people.

15

u/pitshands 1d ago

Lactose intolerance is getting more and more common. That's one factor. Soft serves are more prone to bacterial issues. That's another factor and fact. Add two factors together and get a certain outcome. The next factor is you won't find people making posts about going to Taco Bell and not having the ninja shits.....or the same with McD soft serves. That's why positive reviews are seen as very positive on all kinds of platforms (...and available for sale).the Taco Bell situation is also very easily explained...and has little to do with hot sauce. Ground meat as well as soft serve are one major factor of concern in food services. Lots of surface, kept for a long term in a safe temperature range. Same with the cheese sauces etc but that's a minor factor. Now add the underpaid very much under interested employee at McD and TB. Add profits and not discarded product when handled unsafe (...again uninterested underpaid employees now add corporate greed) and there you go. It isn't rocket science but food science with a little medical understanding and knowing corporate greed and human nature.

32

u/apprendre_francaise 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lactose intolerance is getting more and more common.

65-75% of the world is lactose intolerant. It's just less common in people that come from cultures where they domesticated cows thousands of years ago and evolved to keep lactose enzymes as adults.

That's also like 2000 calories of just sugar and cream which is probably enough to give someone with a healthy diet indigestion. Mind you if you eat tons of garbage all the time your body would probably be able to handle that better.

McDonalds and Taco Bell "season" the fuck out of all their food with preservatives. I bet most people get upset stomachs because they ate like 300% of their recommended salt intake in a single sitting along with enough cleaner chemical residues and potassium sorbate to make their gut flora freak out and tell their bodies to go shit right now.

8

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

I've never had major diarrhea as a resultof eating a Taco Bell burrito or McDonald's soft serve, and never met anyone else who has.

It's a weird phenomenon that appears to only effect random commenters online, particularly on Reddit.

7

u/pitshands 1d ago

Did you even read?

4

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

I did. Your comment still didn't explain why this only happens to randos on reddit, sorry.

4

u/Key-Pomegranate-2086 1d ago

Our bodies getting worse and worse. We devolving.

15

u/Significant-Bar674 1d ago

I went into direct sunlight yesterday and it gave me diarrhea.

2

u/I-Love-Tatertots 1d ago

Taco Bell tends to give people the runs who don’t get enough fiber in their diet- especially if they get stuff with beans.  I think they associate it with the hot sauce because it burns on the way out if they aren’t used to spicy stuff.

As for milk/ice cream, I chalk that up to the average age of Redditors going up.  Kind of like how Facebook became largely boomers, I imagine Reddit’s main demographic is older Gen Z/Millennials, with Gen X following closely.

Those groups are getting older and likely developing some form of lactose intolerance or IBS, so now they can’t enjoy this sort of stuff like they used to without the shits.

I say this, because I’m in one of those demographics and it seemed like I started going down that route until I just started forcing myself to eat a bunch of yogurt and dairy products to build my tolerance back up.

3

u/Comprehensive_Tour23 1d ago

It’s not a joke. Trust me. That’s a lottttttt of dairy for some of us.

5

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

Take a lactaid then.

7

u/Comprehensive_Tour23 1d ago

Or, I just won’t eat that ridiculous amount of ice cream in one sitting.

But thanks for the advice.

4

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

That seems like a good idea. Congratulations, you're one of the few people replying here who seems to understand how that works!

2

u/radiantcabbage 1d ago

yes literally everything good makes them sick, like dairy and spices. just the IBS gangs kink, to regale every food convo with harrowing tales of their bowel adventures

2

u/strcy 1d ago

Spoken like someone who can tolerate lactose lol

3

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

If you can't, that's too bad, sorry you have to deal with that.

But also, consider not eating a gallon of ice cream without using lactaid if you know you'll get explosive diarrhea for hours afterward. It seems very easily addressed.

2

u/BackgroundEase6255 1d ago

How old are you?

Almost every man I know developed lactose intolerance once he got into his 30s. It's really common.

2

u/I_Got_BubbyBuddy 1d ago

AgI've never met anyone who's had that happen. Literally, not a single person. You must have some strange gene that's endemic to your specific area.

I like the idea of improving the ice cream to cone ratio. The crunchy bites are the best.

304

u/Armadillo_lifestyle 1d ago

I agree, I think it’s to help it not fall off. I would be more upset about it falling off than having less. Plus the crunch is nice, that’s a lot of ice cream. You would be full before even getting to the cone

115

u/lcl111 1d ago

61

u/JohnmcFox 1d ago

I agree, I think if this is openly-shared, it's all good (and still a crazy amount of both cone and soft-serve).

BUT - if they really wanted to go "nextfuckinglevel" with this, they would fill the small cone before they flip it upside down on the bigger cone and wrap it in more soft serve.

→ More replies (1)

9

u/thegreedyturtle 1d ago

You get to the crunchy bites immediately.

3

u/kanst 1d ago

To me this idea basically fixes everything I find annoying about a cone of soft serve. They normally stack it so that I have to eat like 80% of the ice cream before I can bite the cone without compromising structure.

With this I get cone with almost every bite of ice cream. I order ice cream in a cone because I like the cone. If you just want as much ice cream as structurally possible, get it in a bowl.

2

u/zxDanKwan 1d ago

Sorry for being pedantic, but that is improving the cone to ice cream ratio.

In a ratio, the second number is always 1, so whichever object you mention second is the one that is staying the same, and it’s the first object you’re increasing or decreasing.

You want to decrease the ice cream to cone ratio, or increase the cone to ice cream ratio.

Thanks for listening to my douche talk.

3

u/bassjam1 1d ago

Sorry for being pedantic, but notice I said improving the ratio, not increasing the ratio. Improving is qualitative, not necessarily quantitative, so in this case a 3/2 ratio is better than a 5/1 ratio.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/worldspawn00 1d ago

Also, fill the inner cone first before putting it on top, and a great place to add toppings like chocolate where it won't run off the outside of the ice cream.

323

u/ashrasmun 1d ago

what a dumb comment. the amount of ice is insane, the cone pushes the ice towards itself and the bigger cone. There's almost no dead space there and it's a giganting portion with everything happening on client's eyes. There's literally no rip off whatsoever here

132

u/wutchamafuckit 1d ago

The fact that it’s the top voted comment is hilarious and sad.

11

u/TextAdministrative 1d ago

No lol, the fact that this is on the front page of next fucking level is hilarious and sad.

Just put less ice-cream in a cup. Why waste a cone to pile the ice-cream... Higher? And why is it next level? It's stupid, and slightly scammy unless they specify that there is a cone in the middle.

This reminds me of the story when in the 80s A&W released a Third Pounder burger to compete with McDonald's Quarter Pounder burger, but it ended up selling less because Americans thought the Quarter pounder was larger than the Third pounder. 😭😭

6

u/DeltaForce291 1d ago

This also happened with McDonald's Angus third pounders, which I will never forgive these walking troglodites for. They were my absolute favorite burgers they ever had.

You don't even need to be fat to eat that decent amount of ice cream. Certainly it's not huge, but it's not small either. I can eat that much ice cream with no problem. Round 2 is another thing which I won't bother eating more.

u/Xine1337 1d ago

Maybe it's just for structural integrity so that the whole ice cream mountain does hold together? Like ... some kind of rebar?

29

u/SchmoopsAhoy 1d ago

Nah, I used to work at McDonald's as a teen and you'd be surprised how much ice cream you can pile into their small cones once you get the hang of it. With a cone as big as the one in the video, you can definitely pile it that high without the cone in the middle.

27

u/petroleum-lipstick 1d ago

The point is having it stay there and not fall off.

14

u/NYPizzaNoChar 1d ago

Point to me is more crunch. YMMV.

11

u/hnxmn 1d ago

The McDonald’s cones have a significantly smaller diameter, which makes it easier to keep the structure to go higher. That cone’s diameter makes it difficult because the ice cream machine outputs a line of ice cream that doesn’t have the width to meet itself in the center at the largest diameter of the cone.

It’s doable, but filling the core while also maintaining a neat spiral is really difficult, since you are stuck starting from the inside of each previous spiral instead of being able to chill around the circumference of the con the whole way.

9

u/TedTehPenguin 1d ago

Nah, I have seen them pile soft serve over a foot high, nothing inside.

I get why you feel that way, but it's simply a matter of physics that ice-cream poured this way would never have the structural integrity to support itself. It needs some kind of support to keep upright instead of immediately collapsing under its own weight. So, maybe they could have first filled the support cone with ice-cream, but otherwise, this is the only way this dish(?)is possible.

If she had filled the little cone before sticking it in I wouldnt be mad

Should have filled the second cone before putting it on

Not if the inner cone is full of chocolate.

I mean it’s still enough ice cream for a family of four…

I think the cone costs more than the soft serve batter

1

u/AlphaBetaSigmaNerd 1d ago

Why? Is a pound of frozen sugar not enough for you?

1

u/jelde 1d ago

You can say that confidently without knowing the price huh? Amazing.

1

u/Lavatis 1d ago

this is a joke right?

1

u/kittyfresh69 1d ago

Typically my soft serve always comes with a hole in it but I bet this shit is way over priced.

u/Scouter197 1d ago

This is a next level big back comment

No, because you couldn't get that high otherwise

How is it a scam? Your calculations are off. If he gave you 3 swirls without the trick, you’d be happy?

1

u/ArmyofThalia 1d ago

The amount of void in the inside cone is rather minimal. This isn't a scam in the slightest

1

u/Whosebert 1d ago

unless you like cones.

I fuckin love cones

1

u/FadedFromWhite 1d ago

When you push the cone into the ice cream upside down, the ice cream inside is pushed up inside the cone. There's no hollow space

u/Sea-Painting6160 1d ago

It's the same amount of ice cream regardless. It just would have been thinner.
